Carrier Pigeons?

For anyone who reads fantasy, I am in a bind:  I need to make reference to homing birds, and I couldn’t decide whether to say carrier pigeons or ravens.  I feel like if I reference ravens, I’ll be accused of copycatting George R.R. Martin.  But it just sounds so awesome!  Anyway, what do you think?  Are there any other type of messenger birds I am unaware of?  Comment below!

Checking In

It’s been awhile since my last post.  A friend found a small consistency error in Fuzzy Business, so I edited it and re-uploaded the file.  I’ve also been busting my buns writing this new fantasy novel.  It’ll still probably take me a year or so to finish, but it’s coming along nicely.  World  building is hard work!

I’m also getting into the works of author Brent Weeks.  Man, that guy can build a solid fantasy world!

Air Time

My TV interview will be airing this weekend on channel 116, local access in Dalton, MA.  

Here are the air times:

Friday:     10:30pm
Saturday: 9:30am, 12:30pm, 6:30pm and 8:30pm
Sunday:    3:30am

Starting next week, it will air at different times throughout Berkshire County.  I will be able to get a dvd copy and post the interview on YouTube by this weekend.

Around Town Interview

I did an interview on Dalton Public Access Community Television, which has a reach throughout most of the Berkshires (Western Mass) about Fuzzy Business.  It went very well, and I hope I didn’t ramble much.  I’m not sure when the finished video will air, but I will upload it to the web as soon as I receive a copy from the studio.

When we were pressed for time, the interviewer asked me about some of my favorite authors.  I named Terry Goodkind, Jim Butcher, and Janet Evanovich… but I just had a terrible realization.  I completely forgot to mention one of my favorite authors of all time, a man whom I have actually met, whose books make me laugh and inspire me to write more: Larry Correia.

I am fixing this egregious error now.  Name a favorite author?  Larry Motherfucking Correia!  If you’ve never heard of him, go buy Monster Hunter International and prepare to be blown away! He has many other books out as well, not just the excellent novels of the Monster Hunter series.  He spins an extremely entertaining, action-packed tale and knows his monsters and his weapons well.  I hope he can forgive me for my terrible, terrible brain fart.

TV Interview

I’m gonna be on TV! I’m super cereal, folks.  That’s the beauty of living in a small community.  I’ll be doing an interview at 6pm Wednesday July 24th on Dalton Community Television, channel 16, public access.  Don’t worry if you don’t live in the Berkshires; once it’s done, they’ll put snippets from the interview on YouTube and I will link them here for you to watch.

And if you DO live in the Berkshires (Western Massachusetts), you can also see a special featured display of my book at Wild Sage in Pittsfield.

Great Run!

Thank you to everyone who shared the link to the 5 day Free Run of Fuzzy Business.  I really appreciate your help!  Hopefully I’ll get some more reviews soon, as it seems the book was quite popular.  At one point, my book was #14 out of the top 100 in the Kindle download Women Sleuth’s listing. How awesome is that?!

The Kindle price is back up to $1.99 now, but that hasn’t stopped buyers before.  Huzzah!

Question for my readers: did YOU like the book?  What ideas or situations would you like to see expanded in book two?

Working on a new book

I already have the sequel to Fuzzy Business written, but it needs to be edited and revised.  It will probably have to wait til next year to be published.  Until I get the help I’m waiting for on that front, I’m working on both promoting Fuzzy Business and writing my own sorta-epic fantasy novel.  I came up with the concept for it years ago, and thanks to my husband, have finally hashed out a refurbished outline.  I’m only a few chapters in, but it’s going swimmingly!

Are there any fantasy novel faux-pas you think I need to avoid?
